In the glass: deep garnet with a ruby rim. On the nose: dark cherry, blackberry, dried rose petal, clove, and a distinctive mineral note that is unmistakably Santa Cruz Mountains. On the palate: firm but elegant tannins, bright acidity, layers of dark fruit and spice, and a long finish.

The official Sommeliers Choice tasting notes: "Garnet with aromas of blackberry, licorice, and cherry. The palate is vibrant with clove and vanilla spice, firm tannins, and a long finish driven by bright acidity and dark fruit."

Wine critic Ken Zinn: "Savory profile with red fruit and a slight saline note... lively acidity and moderate tannins, very characteristic of Santa Cruz Mountains Pinots. Definitely has the potential for more cellaring but it's really good right now."
